A comment on Texting While Driving PSA Getting Lots of Attention

MediaCurves.com just conducted a follow up study with 205 viewers of a Public Service Announcement (PSA) from the U.K. illustrating the dangers of texting and driving. Results showed that the overwhelming majority of viewers (85%) reported that in the last week, they had reduced the amount of text and mobile messages sent while driving as a result of the video. More in-depth results can be viewed at More ...
Thanks,
Ben

A comment on Texting While Driving PSA Getting Lots of Attention

Dana -
From everything I've read, the YouTube 5 min video is the full length version. But due to the graphic nature of it, more than likely it will never be shown on the U.S. airways. However, I have read lots of comments from driving instructors that think it is a great teaching tool. I just hope more of them will see it and get to show it to their students.

A comment on Texting While Driving PSA Getting Lots of Attention

Wow! I would so love for our schools here in the states to require all soon to be drivers and new drivers to watch this entire 30 minute show. I had my 15 year old watch it and it sparked an amazing conversation with him about the dangers of being distracted by ANYTHING while driving. He finally understood why I am so very cautious as to what friends of his I will let him ride with. He "totally gets it now" in his words. Where can we get ahold of this in it's full version. I would so love to have our youth group watch this to truly understand that their actions as young drivers don't just affect themselves but everyone else on the road that they are driving around. I am so thankful for the father and public servant that had the courage to make this film. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

A comment on Ethics of Law Firm Case Managers

Thanks Mike. Sadly, there are many lawyers in Florida who advertise heavily that they will zealously represent a claim but then the client is shuffled off to a non lawyer and many times they will never even meet a lawyer from sign up to closing. Most clients have no idea that a case worker does not legally even need a high school diploma.

One wonders if they would allow their doctor to treat them in the same manner. Likely not.

This is a very good and helpful topic. It's been interesting to see the laid off adjusters that are marketing themselves this way. It's important to hire a lawyer that will really represent you. Good post.

A comment on "Car Crash Taxes" Banned in Florida

Matthew -
I sort of had mixed feelings about this too. It might be more appropriate if the fee was charged to non-residents, but then that's probably unconstitutional.

A comment on "Car Crash Taxes" Banned in Florida

I'm curious to know what range of costs were given to the driver at fault. I guess that's irrelevant now. I sort of like the idea though, so long as the costs are reasonable. The economic cost accrued from traffic backup relating to an accident can be insurmountable. Nothing urks me more when someone breaks down or causes a minor fender bender and doesn't move their car out of a traffic lane, and traffic backs up for miles as a result.

But I certainly see the reason this was banned. This would only have been the first form of double taxation for emergency services, and savvy cities would have extended it as far as they could to increase funding.

A comment on Text Banning Bill In Florida Legislature

Legislatures have embraced anti-texting legislation because those bans are widely approved of by voters in most states. And that activity helps lawmakers dodge the equally important issue of talking on cell phones while behind the wheel. I do not know how many drivers die due to drinking coffee, but I see the list of dead kids who were texting behind the wheel get longer and longer each month. (I run the website handsfreeinfo.com -- it tracks cell phone and texting legislation.)
