One of America's leading toy importers is recalling over 9 million toys due to either lead paint or magnets that may fall off. The recall includes the play sets Doggie Day Care, Barbie and Tanner, Batman and One Piece action figures, "Sarge" die cast toy cars, and Polly Pocket Play Sets.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission today released the three new recalls of dangerous magnets in the Doggie Day Care, Barbie and Tanner, and the Batman and One Piece Magnet Action Figure Sets. The third loose magnet recall is an extension of a November 21, 2006 recall of the Polly Pocket Play Sets. The magnets pose extreme hazards to children if they swallow the magnets. Multiple magnets can bind together and form blockage or perforate in the intestines.

The Sarge die cast toy truck is only one in a long list of recent recalls of toys or children's jewelry with excess levels of lead in the paint. The Sarge car, from the movie "Cars", is a military jeep-like vehicle and was sold individually and in sets of two. There is a set that was made in Thailand (and is marked accordingly) which is not part of this recall.

Due to the significant number of defective products involved, parents are asked to go to the CPSC or the Mattel websites which have pictures and product numbers of all the recalled toys to determine if their child has the defective toys. Mattel is offering a replacement toy for each defective or dangerous one.
